"Pulp Sexology"

Dr. Lubin will present research from her book in progress, Pulp Sexology: Paperback Revolution, Gay Liberation. Combining archival research with approaches from literary studies, cultural studies, and sexuality studies, Pulp Sexology uncovers the imprint of the quantitative mid-century American sexology exemplified by the Kinsey Reports on the literary production of the postwar period. She will contextualize that research by discussing her time the Kinsey Institute for Sex Research, the politics and methods of working in sexological archives, researching pulps and porn, and curating archival materials.
